Narrative learning is based on the role of narration and narrative and how they may help a learner to learn. Discussions and conversations are the tools with which students express and make explicit their feelings and understandings as well as creating their own stories while integrating their own personal learning goals. Personal narrative styles are encouraged via embracing the value of storytelling - telling a story to express understandings, feelings and learning aspects via a story sequence that makes sense to the storyteller.
By constantly defining learning through stories, learners interact with their experiences in a way that they make meaning. Narratives can be embedded in serious games, escape rooms, digital learning content found on online learning environments used to foster learning. Narrative learning is about conceptualising the learning process by being the actor - the one who is telling the story and extracts multiple meanings through experience.
