Informal learning goes beyond formal education and it happens often when a learner finds information from the Web, learns a skill associated with a personal need or interest (e.g. learning how to code via online videos) or discusses something with friends with no structured learning activities, pre-defined content or intended learning outcomes. Informal learning usually does not involve a certificate or degree although now through online courses offered via massive online learning courses, there are certificates for courses completed in informal ways. Usually informal learning happens unconsciously and unintentionally, and it is not bounded to time, space or place. |
